Experience Details
The PADI Advanced Open Water course is designed as an experience programme and is all about diving; there are no classroom sessions involved. This is the course to fine-tune your diving skills and increase your confidence. Once you have mastered these skills you will then be able to get the most out of your diving with Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village in the Red Sea.
During the PADI Advanced Open Water Course you will experience some of diving’s most popular activities and develop skills that will make your diving safer and more enjoyable. After reading a chapter and completing a knowledge review from the manual, your instructor will give you a briefing and you will make your dive. You will make a total of five dives, two of which are core dives and three elective dives. The first day will be spent on the house reef here in Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village and the second day will be on the boat.
Because of the number of elective dives that are possible, the course can be tailor-made to suit the student’s needs – whether you are an experienced diver or a slightly rusty one! The two core dives that are obligatory are the deep dive and the navigation dive.
The deep dive will introduce you to the physiological effects of diving deeper and the navigation dive will teach you how to use a compass and navigate underwater. Once you have completed these dives you have a choice of three elective dives that you can make such as; boat, drift, fish ID, multilevel, night, peak performance buoyancy, search and rescue, underwater naturalist and wreck.
If there are some particular dives that you love you can go on and do the PADI Specialty course. The PADI module system of training allows you credit the dive from your Advanced Course towards the specific specialty course.
